Well, yikes. Tough year for an inaugural season! I know we are all missing many of the ordinary events and happenings we abruptly had taken away from us. It seems unclear as to when things will be back to normal again but as I keep reminding myself, each day that goes by is one day closer. I'd like to give Team Ox Wood families an update on a few different topics.
1. Tournaments are now being rescheduled / cancelled. We have had tournament directors reach out to us (myself and our coaches) to inform us of reschedule dates (some have cancelled the particular tournament) for certain tournaments. Our coaches are handling these dates and will decide which tournaments to participate in come June & July- IF we get to play by then!
We understand that mid-late July is a popular time for families to vacation (although that may change now) and that baseball wasn't originally on the schedule that late in the summer. If families are still planning to travel to see out-of-town family members or plan to go on vacation, please do your best to let your son's coach know so he can decide which tournaments/games to make up.
2. Refund checks. As promised, the families that fundraised over the player fee amount will still be getting refunded for that amount. Of course, there will also be umpire fees and tournament fees that will need reimbursed for as well, as we will not play the full schedule we were counting on. Once the season ends, I will calculate how much of a refund each family will receive for missing out on tournaments and regular games. You guys will have the option of taking a check for that amount, or carrying it over to next season to lessen next years player fees.
NOTE: Those that decide to carry the reimbursement over for next year's player fee will still receive a check from me if they were one of the families that fundraised over the player fee amount.
I know that may be a lot to take in, so if you have any questions, or if something isn't clear- shoot me a text and I'll be happy to clear it up.
3. Gear. If we end up being able to play in June and July, it will happen quickly. I'd like to have EVERY player 100% ready to play when it comes to their gear and uniform. Each player should have:
-Helmet
-Bat bag
-Batting gloves
-Belt
-Hat
-2 Jersey Tops
-Grey Pants (With things being up in the air I did not order black pants, you guys will be reimbursed for this as well)
If your player is missing any of these, we need to coordinate a date and time to pick up the item(s).
4. Pictures. We were under one week out from team photos when the shutdowns began. I will update you guys at a later date on what we will do for photos- we may need to do them individually.
Whenever we do get to watch our little dudes play baseball again, I think I speak for everyone when I say we will enjoy every moment of it.. even a little extra.
