Man, it had been awhile since I was able to sit down and watch some baseball! Team Ox Wood 10U and 9U had a GREAT scrimmage today. I enjoyed every minute of it, and I'm sure the parents did as well.
Our players were nowhere near as rusty as I thought they may be after a long time away from the diamond. The biggest thing that stood out to me was the number of strikes thrown today. Both teams showed they could throw the ball over the plate, which helped move the game along quite nicely. 10U had a few big hits, including a double off the fence to dead center slugged by Landon Hawkins. The 9U squad got the bats going in the last inning and were able to plate 4 runs on a few big hits of their own.
Of course, there were aspects to improve upon on both sides. We talked about a few of these after the game, but I have zero doubt these boys will iron out some kinks as they move forward- especially with how hard these two teams work!!
It was a great day for baseball.
